Katie Cunningham, PharmD, BCTXP, Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, joined the department in October 2017. Dr. Cunningham obtained her BS in Biology from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and her Doctor of Pharmacy from the UIC College of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY1 residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL and her PGY2 residency in solid organ transplant at the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics in Madison, WI.
Dr. Cunningham began her clinical practice in solid organ transplant pharmacy at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in July 2014. Over the next decade, she served in both inpatient and outpatient roles while also holding a clinical faculty appointment at Rosalind Franklin University. She remained in that role until July 2025. Currently, Dr. Cunningham serves as the Director of Clinical Education in the College of Pharmacy, where she leads initiatives aimed at enhancing clinical education across the pharmacy curriculum. In this role, she provides strategic direction and support for hospital-based preceptors, develops and delivers preceptor training programs, and fosters collaboration between clinical sites and the university. She collaborates closely with a dedicated team to maintain the daily operations of the Office of Clinical Education, ensure quality assurance in experiential learning, coordinate student placements, and contribute to the continuous improvement of clinical education standards and practices.
